Your Airport Essentials: What do You Need to Bring on a Flight?

So you have got your flight and accommodation booked, and all your suitcases are ready and packed up waiting in the hallway, now the big question is – what should you take on the plane? Especially if it is a long-haul, transatlantic flight, you will surely need quite a lot of things with you. While having a carry-on filled with essentials is great, it is best to use that space for extra clothes that you don’t want to add up to the overall weight of your big suitcase, so here is the list of the outmost essential things you will need to bring on board:

Surely arriving to your destination and looking like a million bucks is a wonderful thing! But, that does not mean that you should wear multiple layers of make-up, including foundation, blush, lipstick, concealer, mascara, etc. Not only does our skin get ‘stressed’ while flying, but it will get extra tired after wearing all the products. If you really want to make a statement – wear big sunnies, they will hide those bags under your eyes and give you that Jackie-O finish. The next best thing is to apply a little bit of mascara right before the plane starts preparing for landing.

Don’t forget to take lip balm and apply it throughout the flight, as the last thing you want on your vacation photos are cracked, dry lips; the same goes for hand cream.

Personal hygiene

When it comes to flights, especially long-haul ones, it is inevitable that you will have to use the lavatories, touch things around you and then eat, watch movies and enjoy your snacks. It is important to remember that you won’t be washing your hands all the time, so take a pack of wet, disinfecting wipes, which will come in quite handy.

A great idea to keep your face hydrated during the flight is to take a tiny pack of your day cream and apply it at least twice during the long-haul flight, or use a mineral water face spray- those are amazing!

If you have a long flight ahead of you, a good idea is to take with you a toothbrush and a small tube of toothpaste –make sure it corresponds to the airport security rules in your country.

When you are travelling on an airplane, especially on trips that will take longer than 3-4 hours, the last thing you want is to feel uncomfortable. Always plan your airport look ahead – be it comfy pants or jeans with a t-shirt, or your favourite tracksuit – this choice is absolutely yours to make.

Shoes are also an important attribute of your flight experience – usually by the time you land, you will feel that your feet are sore and bloated. Wearing heels or tight strappy sandals, though visually stunning, will not only hurt your feet, but most likely you will not be able to walk out of that airplane. The best thing is to wear comfortable sneakers, ballet flats, flip flops or flat sandals. If you absolutely want to wear heels, the best option is to have a pair of foldable flats in your bag, which you can change into during your flight.

Another absolutely essential part of your daybag in the airplane should be entertainment – this can be from your electronic devices, like your phone, iPad, Kindle or Tablet and their chargers, to books, magazines and hotel brochures. You never know whether there will be movies that you like on board, or if there will be entertainment at all, so it is best to be prepared for any kind of situation. Most people enjoy playing games on their devices, reading books or watching movies and episodes of series that they have missed.

When preparing your handbag that you will take into the airplane, apart from passports and other documents, don’t forget to take sunglasses, a lip balm, hand cream, electronic devices, facial water spray and wet wipes! Drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and wear comfortable clothing! Have a safe flight and happy travels!
